We Declare our First Annual Neighborhood Pet Store Day a Success!
On September 23, 2023, IndiePet saw the work of our Marketing Committee, thirty-three Associate Member-Sponsors, and more than half of our retail membership come to life on Neighborhood Pet Store Day – the first annual event to celebrate the independent pet retailers in our neighborhoods. The distinctive and fun Neighborhood Pet Store Day website, designed and built by Stacy Wood (of IndiePet Member, Weruva) was visited by thousands including over six hundred and fifty independent pet retail stores both members and non-members who participated in the event. In addition to member-sponsors, another dozen manufacturers offered special deals for the day. Two major pet industry promotional companies supporting the event shared the following stats: Our member Astro noted a 350% increase on Sept 23 vs an average Saturday and a 200% increase over Black Friday sales. Promoboxx logged over 82,000 impressions on Facebook and Instagram.
Positive Impact
Many participants shared through a follow-up survey that they noticed both an increase in sales and in store traffic for the day. Barry Berman of NexPet Group and Grandma Mae's Country Naturals (a member and sponsor of the event), noted "IndiePet did a great job with Neighborhood Pet Store Day. Our brands, Grandma Mae's and RawTernative, did great with thousands of redemptions in 27 states." Berman, the originator of idea for the event, has been a long-time strong supporter of the independent channel. He is an active member of IndiePet’s Advisory Panel. Thank you Barry!
